Antoine Gouin, Founding Partner
Antoine Gouin is admitted to the Paris and Sofia Bars and is the founding partner of Alphard Law, a firm whose practice is dedicated to international taxation. He advises French and foreign groups on their cross-border transactions and assists families and executives with the international structuring of their wealth, from preventive advice through to defence before the courts.
His practice covers international taxation on both sides. For companies and groups: transfer pricing, permanent establishment, cross-border restructurings, intra-group financing, withholding taxes and the application of tax treaties. For individuals, executives and families: transfers of tax residence and the French exit tax, non-resident taxation, cross-border estates, trusts and foreign structures, and voluntary disclosure of assets held outside France.
He also leads the firm's contentious matters, from the response to a reassessment notice through to the administrative and judicial courts, and advises on the tax structuring of disposals, acquisitions and restructurings.
Antoine Gouin practised international taxation at KPMG in Luxembourg, advising multinational groups, then at the New York firm Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel and at Degroux Brugère, whose practice is devoted to international family wealth. He founded Alphard Law to run a practice dedicated to international taxation, on a model where the partner who meets the client is the partner who handles the matter.
He regularly publishes analyses of international tax matters in the firm's Perspectives section, notably on the emerging litigation over the social surtaxes of SASU companies taxed under the income tax regime, to which the firm devotes a dedicated website.
